How to use A2ZGIF

1. Add your media

• Press Upload video, GIF, or images on the home page, or drag files anywhere onto the page. Videos (MP4, WebM, MOV), GIFs (animated WebP and PNG too), and images (JPG, PNG, WebP) all work.
• Or paste links to files — one per line — into the link box and press Load (or Ctrl/⌘ + Enter).
• Adding several files or links at once combines them into one timeline: links top to bottom, files in the order your file picker lists them.
• Copied an image or a link? Press Ctrl/⌘ + V anywhere on the page to paste it.
• Already editing? Open Add media to add more at the end or right after the selected frame. If the new media is a different shape, it’s fitted with blurred bars or cropped — your choice. Dropping or pasting files in the editor adds them to the end, too.
• Under How, choose Side by side or Stacked to play new media next to your GIF instead of after it. Both play at once, and the shorter one repeats.

2. Get to know the editor

• Tools sit in the rail on the left (in the bar at the bottom on phones). Pick one and its options open beside the preview (below it on phones).
• Preview shows the selected frame. Press Play to watch the animation.
• Timeline, under the preview: click a frame to select it, drag frames to reorder them, or hover a frame and click × to delete it.
• Each frame shows its number. While you drag Start frame and End frame in Trim, Reverse, Text or Effects, the chosen frames light up on the timeline and the rest fade, so you don’t have to count.
• Undo and Redo are in the top bar, or use Ctrl/⌘ + Z and Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + Z.
• Hover a frame (or tap it on a phone) and click the pause button to hold it one second longer. Frames held for a second or more show their time.

3. Edit with the tools

Trim

Drag Start frame and End frame to choose which frames to keep, then press Apply Trim.

Crop

Pick a shape — Free, 1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16, or 4:3 — drag the corners of the box to resize it and drag inside it to move it, then press Apply Crop.

Switch to Fit to change the shape without cutting anything off: pick a shape, fill the bars with Blur, a Color, or Transparent, then press Apply Fit. It’s the easy way to turn a landscape clip vertical for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok.

Rotate

Rotate 90°, Flip Horizontal, and Flip Vertical apply straight away.

Reverse

Choose which frames should play backwards with Start frame and End frame (or Select all frames), then press the Reverse button. Frames outside the range stay as they are.

Under Loop, Boomerang plays the chosen frames forward, then backward, for an endless back-and-forth. Perfect loop fades the last frames into the first ones (Short, Medium, or Long), so the loop has no visible jump.

Duplicate

To copy one frame, hover it on the timeline and click the copy button in its top-left corner (on a phone, tap the frame first). To copy several, open Duplicate, pick the frames with Start frame and End frame, choose how many Copies (up to 10) and whether they go Right after the range or At the end, then press the add button. Copies keep each frame’s delay.

Text

Everything you can add is under Add: Text, the ready-made styles Meme, Caption, Subtitles, Label and Title, a speech Bubble (Cut-out makes it see-through, as in the Discord reaction format), and Sticker, which opens emoji in six categories plus word stickers like LOL and BRUH. The sticker picker stays open, so you can keep adding.

Everything you add is listed under On your GIF. Click an item to open its settings right under it: the text, font, size, bold, italic, underline, color, outline, a background Box, opacity, whether it sits on the image or in a Panel bar, alignment, and which frames it shows on. Stickers only show size, opacity and frames. Drag items on the preview to place them, then press Apply.

Speed

Change the selected frame's Delay (ms), use Set all frames to this delay, or pick a playback speed from 0.2x to 5x, then press Apply Speed.

To freeze a moment, use Hold frame longer (+0.5s, +1s, +2s), or Pause on the last frame so a punchline has time to land before the loop restarts. Add in-between frames (2×) blends neighboring frames to double the frame rate — smoother for slow movement, though fast movement can ghost and the file gets bigger.

Under Several frames, pick part of the clip with Start frame and End frame, then choose a playback speed or type a Delay for these frames (ms) and press the button under it — perfect for a slow-mo punchline. Frames outside the range keep their timing.

Effects

Tap any mix of filters — Grayscale, Sepia, Invert, Brighten, Contrast, Vivid, Blur, Pixelate, Vignette — choose which frames they apply to, then press Apply Effects.

Background

Cut out the subject and remove the background from every frame. Choose Person (cleanest edges around people) or Pet or object, replace the background with Nothing (see-through), a Color, or Blur, pick Sharp or Soft edges, then press Apply to all frames. The model loads the first time you open the tool (about 12 MB) and runs on your device.

On a clip, Start frame and End frame limit the change to part of the GIF; the other frames keep their background.

Motion

Turn a still picture into a looping GIF, or add movement to a clip: Shake, Zoom punch, Focus zoom, Spin, Pulse, Bounce, Jelly, Swing, Flip, Float, Heartbeat, Glitch, Party (cycling colors) or Pet (a hand patting the picture). Choose the Intensity and, for a still picture, the Speed. On a clip, Start frame and End frame choose which frames get the effect. For Focus zoom, tap the preview to choose the point to zoom in on. Watch the preview, then press Apply Motion.

Changed your mind right after applying — say, a different zoom point? Change the setting and press Update Motion: it replaces the effect instead of stacking on it. To layer a second effect, choose Add another effect on top instead.

Size

Choose GIF, MP4, or WebM, and a resolution — or Custom to type a width. For a GIF, set the quality, or pick a platform (Discord, Twitter/X, WhatsApp, Reddit, Slack) or Custom to aim for a file size. Under Emoji & emotes, the Discord, Slack, and Twitch presets make a small square file within each platform’s limit; if your GIF isn’t square, you’ll be asked to crop or fit it first. The estimated size updates as you change things and turns red if it’s still over the limit. Under Loop, choose Forever, Play once, or Custom to set how many times the GIF plays.

MP4 is usually far smaller than a GIF, and it’s what Reddit, 9gag, X, and WhatsApp turn GIFs into anyway. Videos can’t be transparent.

4. Export

Press Export in the top bar, or Download GIF in the Size tool. The file saves straight to your device.

On a phone, a Share button then appears, so you can send the file straight to WhatsApp, Discord, or another app.

Starting again

• Reset undoes every edit and takes you back to your original upload. You can undo a Reset, too.
• Click the A2ZGIF logo to start over with new files. It asks first, because your current GIF will be discarded.
• Your work isn't saved when you close the tab, so export before you leave.
